"Label this asset as created or edited with AI"
It has been interesting seeing the social platforms adding AI labels to content for both organic posts and ads. Just the other day, I was working on some YouTube ads for a client and the option came up that I had to select whether or not it was an AI video (see pic below).
Another example, LinkedIn has recently added a "Looks like AI Slop" button to the 3-dot menu on posts. This allows users to mark posts that lack human feel and seem fully AI generated. Meta is also labeling posts that appear to be edited or created with AI
This creates an interesting dilemma for brands and marketers: save time with AI but get called out for using it, or stick to the regular creative process (that does take longer) to avoid the warning label. From what I am seeing, consumers are still calling out "AI slop" in the comment sections and there is definitely negativity towards it. Brands can also come off as either lazy or forward thinking, depending on how your audience feels about it.
The takeaway, the world of AI is ever changing and consumer attitudes will continue to change as well. While it is very important to stay up on the trends, it is important to remember that consumers will still crave the human element in the content that they interact with. That is something that cannot be neglected by businesses!
