What Should Your Ad Spend Return?

Estimate your return on ad spend (ROAS) and overall marketing ROI, benchmarked against real Venture Creations client results.

Management fees not included.

Benchmarks are directional averages drawn from Venture Creations client campaigns and vary by industry, seasonality, and creative quality. Results are not typical or guaranteed — some accounts outperform this range, others fall short of it. These ranges assume an established, optimized account with several months of ad data behind it — new accounts typically take 2-3 months to reach these numbers as platforms optimize delivery. This tool estimates ROAS on ad spend only (management fees and other costs are not included), not full ROI, which also depends on your profit margin and other costs.

Key Terms

ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) — the revenue generated for every dollar spent on ads. A 5x ROAS means $5 in revenue for every $1 spent on ad platforms.

ROI (Return on Investment) — the overall profitability of a campaign after accounting for all costs, including ad spend, management fees, and product/service costs, not just ad spend alone.

Reach — the number of unique people who saw your ad, as opposed to impressions, which count total views including repeats.

Cost Per Lead (CPL) — how much you spend, on average, to generate one lead. Used to estimate how many leads a given ad budget will generate; typically $45-$100 for local service businesses, though it varies widely by industry, deal size, and how large a geographic area you're targeting.

Cost Per RSVP — how much you spend, on average, to generate one RSVP or high-intent engagement for an event campaign; typically $0.25-$0.65, though costs tend to rise as budget and geographic targeting scale up.

Attributed Sales/Leads — sales or leads that can be directly traced back to a specific ad campaign through tracking pixels and conversion data.

Platforms We Recommend

Facebook & Instagram (Meta) — best all-around fit for e-commerce, local businesses, and events; strong targeting and creative formats for both awareness and direct response.

Google — best for capturing existing demand through search intent, especially for lead generation and local services. For e-commerce, we find it performs best paired with Meta, capturing high-intent search traffic while Meta drives broader discovery and retargeting.

YouTube — effective for brand awareness and storytelling through video, particularly for businesses with strong visual or demonstration-driven products.

TikTok — strong for reaching younger audiences and driving engagement with native, casual video content.

LinkedIn — best fit for B2B businesses and reaching decision-makers directly.
